Improving her quality of life through health and physical activity has always been a priority for Elyssa. Because of this genuine curiosity, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology from St. Francis University, as well as a Master’s degree in health, physical activity, and chronic disease from the University of Pittsburgh.
Following graduation, while working as a strength and conditioning specialist in a physical therapy clinic/sports performance facility, with people of all ages and fitness levels she discovered the truth that no matter what age or stage of life you are in, daily movement (in any way possible) should be practiced. She loves working at SCSC and the constant challenges that cause her to grow and improve each day. When not in the gym, Elyssa can be found strolling outside somewhere with two crazy dogs.

Stew is a lover of all forms of physical fitness, and no stranger to SCSC. Originally, he completed a collegiate internship at our previous location in 2014. He then went to the University of Kentucky to complete a second internship in athletics, with the strength coaching staff focusing on the baseball, softball, track, swimming, golf & cross country teams.
Following his education, he relocated to Florida, where he ran a fitness facility before returning to Pennsylvania about two years ago. With his 10 years of experience, he has demonstrated how he loves State College Strength and Conditioning and coaching young athletes from the surrounding communities. Stew devotes his free time outside with his wife, Karlee, and son, Beau, doing anything and everything in the name of lifelong learning and growing and getting outside of his comfort zone.
Coach
There isn’t a sport that Joe hasn’t played, from football and wrestling to tumbling & competitive cheerleading, he’s done it all. But he quickly learned that to gain an edge on the competition, there would have to be even more commitment, off the field. So Joe started hitting the gym and that’s when he discovered a love for weight training. In 2021, Joe qualified for the World Championships in Cheerleading and broke the 18 & under squat record for his weight class in powerlifting.
After high school, training became Joe’s new passion, as he found himself fascinated with the ability to establish a physical training program with predictable results. Because he truly loves designing strength programs, Joe’s ideal client is passionate about what he does, wants to get after it every day, and is excited about getting stronger through the process, whatever his goal may be. Together, Joe and his clients identify weaknesses and relentlessly get after them.
